I didn't have TV reception in my room but I did have broadband internet, so I decided to connect my TV to my computer so that I could watch BBC i-player programs. My Acer One netbook only had a VGA out-port for external TV/monitor connection, and my Toshiba TV has many different input options including HDMI and VGA. So I went with this VGA-to-VGA video cable to connect them. Note that a VGA cable doesn't carry sound. So I also bought this little audio lead which goes from the headphones socket of my netbook into the "PC/HDMI AUDIO" input on the back of the TV: http://www.amazon.co.uk/FPUK-metre-Audio-Sound-Cable/dp/B001DMEX5C/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1264449648&sr=8-8

An important note is that in hooking up your computer to your TV, make sure not only that your TV can support a PC input but also make sure that you change your computer's screen resolution settings to match the maximum resolution that the TV and type of connection can handle. For example, my TV is 1360x768 but can only display 800x600 when connected via the VGA cable. A resolution of 800x600 might not sound like much but is surprisingly good when put on a small (19") TV.

Also note: If you can hook-up your computer to your TV via an HDMI-to-HDMI lead you might find your TV can support a higher PC input screen resolution, and you won't also need an audio lead like I did. Alternatively, according my TV manual, you might be able to hook your computer up via a DVI-to-HDMI cable, which might similarly allow you a higher resolution, but in that case you'd still also need an audio lead.

As to the item itself:
The build quality appears surprisingly sturdy for such a modestly priced item - the black cabling has an outside diameter of at least 7mm and has two of those standard cylindrical blocks surrounding the cable, one near the connector at each end.

The outer packet reads: VGA Computer Cable, HDB15P male to male, 3+6C+B+2Ferrite.
Along the cable reads: AWM 2919, 80 degrees C, 30V, VW-1, low voltage computer cable, made in China.
good quality cable

I needed to connect a VGA monitor to my laptop because the screen was busted.
I received the cable within 48 of placing the order. The item cost a fraction of top brand equivalents and did the job perfectly. I plug it in and unplug it everyday and never had a problem. Amazing good value for money. I was impressed also by the quality of the service. Thank you!
