This links my laptop's HDMI port to a standard DVI monitor with no issues - in fact, I could swear the image is actually sharper than it was via the standard cable but perhaps that's more to do with the new graphics card than the cable?
Only thing is that this 1m cable is actually a bit short for me; I should have chosen a 1.5m or even 2m perhaps (if avaiable). Measure your needs before ordering!
But excellent quality cable and crisp picture so I can't complain! |
Maybe won't do the job

I bought this cable to connect a desktop pc to a 22inch Lcd tv.
While the picture is perfect I can't get any sound, though I do hear random crackling.
Some say this cable is not meant to carry sound, but there seems no way to enable the tv to accept the audio from the audio out socket (3.5mm jack) in the pc and combine it with the picture from this cable.
After rooting around I found that my graphics card (nvidia geforce 9400GT) has a tiny socket which can connect to an audio out (S/PDIF) socket on the motherboard although some graphics cards don't have them (mine does) so I bought the (very cheap) cable.
Only to find later that the motherboard does not have the required (S/PDIF out) socket for the other end of the cable, I can see where the socket should be but it was never there - I never thought to look I thought they would all have them!
I'm sure I have an old sound card lying around which may have the (S/PDIF out) socket I require, but whether I can get the required drivers for it.......
So now I have to hook up the audio out from the pc to an external source which is a bit of a pain.
I've kinda given up at the moment, if I get around to it and it works I will try to remember to post back.
I have still given the product 5 stars since I can't fault the quality. |
Does exactly what it should

| I've plugged it in and not thought about it since - that's what I want from a cable. |
Vital kit for HD if your set lacks an HDMI socket

Revolutionised my movie-watching and gaming experience! Because my LCD TV is an early HD Ready set it doesn't have an HDMI socket, so I naturally thought I'd been ripped off and would have to lump it. Then discovered you can get full HD picture quality through the DVI socket so went for this cable and have been well pleased.
Of course it doesn't send audio signals so I had to buy some speakers, but we run DVD's and Blu-ray from a PS3 so got these fairly cheaply. If you haven't got this option then you might have to spend a bit more on suround sound speakers, but still much cheaper than a new TV!
Very good price too. |
Ideal for Xbox/PS3 loving students living away from home...

This saved a bundle, young cousin wanted
to play Xbox but on a monitor as he'd have
to pay a full t.v license even though he doesn't
watch t.v.
Cheapest I found at the time. |
